Cuba 1934. Songwriter, guitarist and performer. In 1955 she started
to write her own works and her earlier song was Palabras.
This songwriter has based her creations in genres like the Bolero and song inside Feeling style.
The first song written by Valdés and recorded (by Fernando
Alvarez) was No es preciso, in 1957. At that time the famous Cuban
singer Vicentico Valdés made famous En la Imaginación,
the first one from a great series of boleros Marta would include
in his recording repertoires such as Deja que siga sola, Tú dominas, No hagas caso, among others worldwide famous examples.
Many Cuban and South American singers have chosen her works to include
in their recordings. She has also taken part in festivals, presenting
her own compositions and has also offered concerts in Spain, Mexico,
Colombia, Venezuela and Brazil. Marta has also participated in several
poetry festivals in many Latin American countries.
She has also composed many works for drama and has published several
articles on popular Cuban music.
