César
López
Havana, 1968. Alt and Soprano saxophones, choirs, arranger and composer. He
graduated from the Arts National School and his life as a professional
began in 1985 with the troupe of the outstanding musician Boby Carcasés,
Latin Jazz lover and talent researcher.
In 1988, López is chosen by Master Chucho Valdés to
join the prestigious Cuban band Irakere, he stayed in
this band during 9 years and played with several luminaries from the
world of music, highlighting, Gladys Knight, Chik Corea, Branford
Marsalis, Winston Marsallis, Michael Camilo, Paquito de Rivera, Tito
Puente, Arturo Sandoval and Al Di Meola, among others.
He has given masterful lectures at different universities: Center
University (Canada), Universidad del Atlántico (Barranquilla,
Colombia), Instituto de Superación del Arte (Havana, Cuba),
as well as in many music conservatoires: Cali (Colombia), La Coruña,
(Spain) and one of the music conservatoires in London.
López has a wide discography together with Ivan Lins, Silvio
Rodríguez, Roy Hargrove, Richard Egües, Sara González and Chucho Valdés. He also joined Compay Segundo, Arturo Sandoval,
Danny Rivera, Leo Brouwer and the National Symphonic Orchestra in many
concerts.
In 1997, he founded Habana Ensemble and with this band, has been embarking
on international tours offering remarkable concerts in Germany, England,
France, Spain, Switzerland, Holland, Sweden, Finland Greece, Austria,
Italy, Scotland, Denmark, Portugal, Ireland, Belgium, Turkey, Norway,
Japan, South Africa, Canada, USA, Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Colombia,
Brazil, Peru, Panama, Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Barbados,
Aruba, and Martinique.
He has played at different scenes all around the world: Hostos University
College (New York), Teresa Carreño (Caracas, Venezuela), America
Latina Memorial (Sao Paulo Brazil), National Auditorium (Mexico),Teatro
Providencia (Santiago de Chile), Apolo (Barcelona Spain),Teatro Metropolitano
