Ruiz de la Tejera, Havana, August 4, 1932.
Theater,
movie, radio and television actor. One of the most popular Cuban
artists. His extraordinary versatility has taken him to a high position
of admiration and popular respect due to his peculiar style, shown
not only in the hilarious satire but also in the interpretation
of poems and dramatic texts.
He is creator
of a singular way of speech, making him unique. Having notable success
nationally and abroad, his performances are very interesting at
exclusive concert halls and even at popular shows, amphitheaters,
stadiums and public squares. His expressive means and mimic achieved
that communication always present in his performances.
Since 18 years
ago, he is presenting La Peña de Carlos Ruiz de la Tejera,
at Napoleonic Museum of Havana, becoming an important cultural cell
where you can not only enjoy his art but also, meet consacrated
and novel poets, actors, troubadours, humourists, artisans, painters
and other creators. Famous international artists has visited his
Peña, recognizing the high quality of the public formed there.
Carlos Ruiz
de la Tejera has left his prints on the Cuban movie. His filmography
is composed by a dozen films highlighting three made by the remarkable
movie maker Tomás Gutierrez Alea: Las doce sillas, La muerte
de un burócrata and Los Sobrevivientes, two other
films by Julio García Espinosa:Son o no son and El Piano
plus a movie by Armand Gatti, French movie maker.
