Alejandro Rodríguez
Oliva ¨Andito¨ had a wide trajectory within the Cuban Music
compass. Since he was a child, he felt preference for singing, it
allowed him to obtain an award with the song Quién le
pone cascabel al gato?. He had a primary academic education,
because, coming from a poor social class, he could not go to school
regularly, and had to work to earn his daily sustenance.
He took part
of prestigious groups, citing, Conjunto Chapotin , Siboney, Estrellas
del Ritmo and Conjunto Caney. Along many years, he conducted his
own group, under the name¨Alejandro y sus muchachos¨ performing
a radio program, which was airplayed many years by Radio Rebelde.
He became author-singer
in 1960, recording many of his compositions, participating also,
as singer, in the Italo-Cuban film ¨La Rumbera¨, interpreting
the Guaracha ¨Camarón y Mamoncillo¨, on
December, 1998. In addition, he intervened in the documentary filming
¨Barrios de la Habana¨, with producer Ronaldo, from Rubicolor
of Martinica record label.
