  Olga Navarro Thauller

Actress, poet, storyteller, composer and declaimer. Perhaps it was because of the stories her great-grandmother told her about her great-uncle Gregorio de la Torre (Gollito), assistant of Panchito Gómez Toro, or when she recited to Cucalambé that this beautiful woman, who was born in the capital of all Cubans, turned into that poet who was able to transform poetry into the best chronicle of her time which is still the present. Her eagerness for Cuban things could be around here, combined with that spirituality and love for the human being she found since her first years at a religious school.

She also taught housework which justifies her love not only for her own family but also for Cuban family in general without any difference, because Olga Navarro is a person that does not excludes but includes and tries to unite everyone under only one precept, love between men and women of goodwill.

And that girl, who became one of the most beautiful woman and is the most authentic appearance of Cuban woman which inspires famous Wilson’s criollitas, began to invent the first songs and poems for her toys before learning how to read or write.

She is founder of UNEAC. Her musical and poetic work has traveled around part of the world on the voices of great artists; she founded ACHE the only musical-poetical group.

Olga Navarro also founded Cuban Television, received Giraldilla de la Habana and Gitana Tropical medals, awarded several times in Festivals, the most recent one was Habaneras en la Habana 2006 where she obtained the Great Price, and she keeps active not only on radio and television but also on those bohemian evenings at her other house Las Vegas night club where she expects her fans every Friday; she is in our opinion, the only one chronicler in verse we have nowadays because on her work there is no event, figure or important moment that have not been narrated.

Olga is still a beautiful woman full of fantasies, projects, dreams and above all she has so much love inside that without any doubt and like it is said in one her songs, keeps her always up so she is and will always be an upright flower.
