Natalia Bolívar y Aróstegui
Writer and ethnologist. Studious of afrocuban culture, authro of about one hundred books and manuscripts, articles and conferences published in Cuba and abroad. Pupil of Don Fernando Ortíz and Lydia Cabrera.
She studied in 1955 Cuban Art at the Havana Universtity`s Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, studying also painting and sculpture in the annexed school of San Alejandro and natural drawing and composition at the Arts Students League in New York.
Her knowledge of English and French language plus her specialty in ethnological themes contributed in a significant way to the creation and development of remarkable cultural centers such Fine Arts, Napoleonic, Decorative Arts and Numismatic Museums.
Since 1981, taking as starting point her labor at the National Theater, she actively retakes the study about afrocuban themes and assessing theater and movie directors for the likes of Manuel Octavio Gómez, Armando Suárez del Villar and Tomás Gutiérrez Alea, Titón, among others.
Among her works we can highlight the book Los Orishas en Cuba, due to its great ethnological and cultural value.
