  Félix Pita Rodríguez (1909 – 1990)

Félix Pita Rodriguez.Poet and narrator. He was born at the havana-based locality of Bejucal, on February 18, 1909. He made his primary studies at a public school from his natal town and being still a teenager, he brought to light his first poems and relates, which netted him a priviledged place within the renovating literary movement well-known as Vanguardism.

Man of great humanist projection, restless fighter for peace and social justice, during the Spanish civil war he formed, together with some other Cuban outstanding intellectuals, a delegation to attend the Anti-Facist Congress reunited in the middle of the belic situation, in Madrid, Valencia.

Aire de Luz BookRomance de América, La bien guardada, San Abul de Montecallado, Corcel de fuego y Tobías, are the some of the most relevant works of Félix Pita Rodríguez, who was Chairman of the Dominical Supplement Hoy, official journal of the Socialist Popular Party and also worked for some time, serving also as President of the Literature Section from the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, UNEAC.

He died in Havana City, on October 19, 1990.
