Poet,
literary researcher, critic, essayist and journalist.
Recipient of 1991 National Prize of Literature. Doctor in Philosophic
Sciences, member of Cuban Academy of the Language and other prestigious
Cuban and foreign institutions. Founder director of Cuban Literature
Magazine. Honor President of Nicolás Guillén Foundation,
founder member at Union of Journalist of Cuba, Union of Cuban Writers
and Artist, Prensa Latina News Agency.
His wide journalist trajectory includes directive labor in diverse
journals receiving such outstanding journalist prizes as Juan Gualberto
Gómez, Ruy de Lugo Viña, Enrique José Varona,
Víctor Muñoz and Varela Zequeira. In this sense, his
work as editor has overtook different journals all world wide, giving
lectures on Cuban literature topics at remarkable institutions in
Cuba, Spain, Great Britain and France.
Among the different national and international distinctions to acknowledge
the excellence of his intellectual body of work underscore National
Prize of Essay, Félix Elmuza Order and Distiction for National
Culture.
