  Manuel López Oliva. Manzanillo, 1947



Graduated from National School of Art on 1969, Manuel López Oliva served as plastic arts critic for along more than 30 years. On 2000 he gained «Guy Pérez Cisneros» National Prize of Critic fro his work achievement during his entire life. He has also worked on critic and essay about art, aesthetic and culture in various publications of Cuba, Spain, France, Colombia, Italy, Sweden, Poland and Chile. Manuel served, in addittion, as jury member and offered courses and conferences at cultural institutions, national and international universities.

Member of National Union of Artists and Writers (UNEAC) Chairman of Cuban Committee from international Association of Plastic Artists (AIAP).

As painter, he has numerous solo exhibitions, citing: 1972, Galerie Lumière, París; 1973, Art Gallery in Galiano, Havana City; 1975, Royal Gallery, Edinburg, Scotland; 1976, Gallery from National University, Bogotá, Colombia; 1981, Gallery from Vilnius City, Lithuania; 1983, House of Culture, Malmó, Sweden; 1987, «Signos Pictóricos» Gallery, 13 Muses Club, Szczecin, Poland; 1993, «Sin Catálogo», La Acacia Gallery, Havana City; 1995, «En la escena». Wifredo Lam Contemporary Art Center, Havana City; 1997, «Temas Clásicos» Casa-Museo de la Orfebrería, Havana City; 2000, «Repertorio» Art Center 23 & 12, Havana City and in 2002, Homage exhibition, Novotel Gallery, Havana City. He has also participate at numerous group exhibitions.

In the 70s he joined in United States a group exhibition about Martí`s images together with other remarkable names from Cuban art at cuban Studies Center of New York. On 1982, he exhibited some works within a project including samples of Cuban art from XX century at Sing Gallery of this same city. Some collectors from diverse zones of United States possesing artworks created by this painter.
