Vicente Rodríguez Bonachea. Havana, 1957.
Vicente Rodríguez Bonachea obtained the BFA degree at San
Alejandro Fine Arts School in 1976, applying his specialty in diverse
institutions such as the Cuban Institute of Art and Cinematographic
Industry (ICAIC).
He worked as designer at the Basic Industry Ministry, as specialist
of environment design and design and drawing teacher at the Polytechnical
Institute of Industrial Design, he also worked at Paulita Concepción Elemental
School of Art. He is member of Union
of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC).
Considered a sharp drawer, this painter has gained a top place
at the contemporary Cuban plastic. His work, boasting an ample imagination,
entwines human forms with animals as a source of a singular story.
Bonachea has illustrated books for children and youngsters in Cuba
and abroad; preparing excellent murals for hotels in Varadero and
Villa Clara. In his pictorial creations are present motifs inspired
on José Martí`s Versos Sencillos.
He has made diverse solo exhibitions in Cuba, Mexico, Costa Rica,
United States, Spain, Dominican Republic, Swedish and France. Other
group exhibitions in Cuba, Holland, Belgic, Switzerland, Austria,
Finnland, the former Czechoslovakia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Japan,
the former URSS, China, South Corea, Spain, United States, France, Panama,
Colombia, Jamaica, Canada and Brazil.
Among the diverse awards received due to his excellent creations,
we can highlight those conferred by Norma de Tokio Contest, Japan
and Plural Magazine in Mexico.
