arnaldoLa Habana, Cuba--  “Arnaldo y su Talisman” group is celebrating its 10th anniversary. It is headed by the popular and young artist Arnaldo Rodriguez who has been awarded as Hijo Ilustre de la provincial de Ciego de Avila and Premio del Barrio 2007. Considered one of the most popular groups of the last decade. Throughout its career it has received many Cubadisco awards, produced 7 albums under EGREM record label and presented about 20 video clips. Sponsored by EGREM and ARTex, 17 concerts will be presented throughout the Island. Themes as Acelerao, La Lucecita , Tras la tormenta, Aqui estamos, among others, all popularized by the artist will be performed as well as some of his latest production “ Arnaldo y su Talismán 10 años de exitos” EGREM 2012.

ivette_cepedaLa Habana, Cuba-- The end of the year 2011 was amazingly successful for artists from the catalog of Musicalia, Pascualito y su Tumbao Habana celebrated its 14th anniversary last December 29th in La Casa de la Musica Miramar. Moreover Ivette Cepeda and her group Reflexión offered two concerts last December 29th and 30th in Mella Theater, well praised by the audience. The artist promised she would have a concert at the beginnings of the year, in which you´ ll be previously informed.

habanastation_ian_padronLa Habana, Cuba-- Habanastation, Last year one of the most successful movies was Habanastation, Ian Padron´s opera prima, which has been well-praised by the press and having a great acceptance with the audience in the different theaters it was screened, along the whole country. The film, awarded in the Traverse City Film Festival (Michigan, United States) headed by Michael Moore, had a profound impact and also for people from Miami. Subsequently it was chosen by ICAIC to represent the island for the 2012 Oscar Awards as the Best Foreign Language film.

feria-libro-cuba The 21st edition of the International Book Fair will be held from February 9th to 19th in Havana and until March 4th in the other provinces of the country under its traditional slogan: “To read is to grow” This annual event will recall the bicentenary of the rebellion led by Jose Antonio Aponte against the Spanish colonial power on the island, and the centennial of the armed uprising of the members of the Independent Party of Color. The Fair will be dedicated to Cuban authors Zoila Lapique, 2002 National Social Sciences Prize winner, and Ambrosio Fornet, who won the national prizes of Literature (2009) and Edition (2000).

 

jazz_panama-chucho valdes-omara portuondo“From the heart of America to the world”, the Panama Jazz Festival celebrates its 9th edition to be held on January 16th to 21st and which entries are assigned to Danilo Pérez Foundation. Omara Portuondo and Chucho Valdés appear among the outstanding figures participating in the event. They are both sharing stage to launch their latest production. Omara, the 81-year-old artist, will present a repertory of classic themes as “Veinte años” by Maria Teresa Vera. Jazz nights will be presented by Panama Jazz Festival in the Portobelo Lounge at the Panama Hotel.
