Advances for CUBADISCO

Already working the juries in diverse categories for the Cubadisco Prize to pick the nominees for this edition. Interesting results can be foreseen so far, taking into account how tight could be the selection within diverse categories gathering recording productions boasting a high artistic and musical quality. Guido López-Gavilán succeeds at Festival in Winnipeg

Cuban composer and director Guido López-Gavilán was the unique Latin American guest attending the recently-concluded Festival New Music, celebrated in Winnipeg, Canada, where he got in touch with outstanding personalities from Europe, America and Asia. Gavilán gained huge acceptance when presenting his Cantos de Orishas and Guaguancó, which were the most acclaimed pieces of the event. Fifteen composers attended the New Music Festival, highlighting Russians Ivan Monighetti and Andreu Boryko, the Chinese George Gao and the Canadian Gwen Hoebig, all of them winners of notable international accolades. Guido López-Gavilán won an Internet survey as the most popular composer. (Source AIN)

   
Good health for the creation project of the cultural fund from El Alba

The Venezuelan ambassador in Cuba, Adán Chávez announced to the press the upcoming signing of an agreement between his country and Cuba for the creation of a Cultural Fund of the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas (ALBA). Through his declarations, cited by PL, Adán Chávez stated it’s almost ready the establishment of entities for the group work. The Venezuelan representative also assured it has been also foreseen the creation of mixed Cuban-Venezuelan enterprises for the collective publication of books and magazines for children and youngsters and recording productions and films from both countries. According to the plan, ALBA editions include the appearance of two magazines, one of them devoted to children and the creation of a Record Label. This agreement for the creation of the Cultural Fund of El ALBA is aimed at strengthens the Latin American cultural identity and gives priority to young audiences and recently-graduated people in America and its impulse is an unparallel cooperative and integrative act among the south countries. Cubadisco Memories

Cubadisco has created, since its very beginnings, right spaces for the debate, reflections among theoreticians, creators, agents of music and some others through colloquiums and symposiums to tackle the most diverse topics from the musical industry with the main purpose of fueling the exchange, collaboration and knowledge to help the widest and most efficient development of the Cuban recording industry.
