For Cubans, dancing is a corporal expression of essential spiritual
satisfaction... sometimes I stop to enjoy the creativity of the
Cuban women in her movements at the rhythm of such pieces as Te
pone la cabeza mala, by Juan
Formell y los Van Van. So, it always reminds me a picaresque
song from Miguel
Matamoros or Arsenio
Rodríguez in so deep enjoyment when dancing.
However, while this is happening in a public place or a house, a
group dancing of couple is taking place at the same scenes, where
a leading voice announces steps to follow in each movement, holding
a particular enchant due to the complexity in the choreography.
It is called Rueda de Casino dancing, having this name due to its
birth at Casino de la Playa Recreation Society around the final
years of 50th decade. This dancing manifestation has gone far beyond
our boundaries.
Adalberto
Alvárez was the president of 1st International Meeting
of Ruedas de Casino, featuring ''Para
Bailar Casino'' CD, his latest discographic work at Salón
Rosado de la Tropical.
In this set, recorded under Bis
Music label, Adalberto reaffirms with his classical tumbao,
he owns Son through an unfailing mechanism having a strong emotional
significance for all people living on the island.
This effort of Adalberto
Álvarez to revive and dignify Casino, represents a logical
consequence of Caballero del Son`s trajectory, order of noble criolla
lineage which along three decades has pulsed the most secret shades
in the Cuban spirit, filling it up with pleasure when dancing with
his music.
