The National Prize of Cinema was created in 2003, as recognition to consecrated persons of the Cuban cinema by their creative work in the whole life.

This important award has been granted to:

2003 - Alfredo Guevara, founder and first president of the Cuban Institute on Cinematographic Arts and Industry.

2004 - Julio García Espinosa.

2005 - Humberto Solás.

2006 - Enrique Pineda Barnet
