This curious graphic jewel that is the Cuban Movie Poster.

The Cuban Institute of Art and Cinematographic Industry, ICAIC, is celebrating its 45 anniversary around these days. With the outbreak of this outstanding institution, a different cinema started and it demanded a new movie poster, carrier of a new communicative language, a graphic design able to join the befall created for the great screen.

The autochthonous initiative in the conceptualization of codes and the influence of international art`s elements and experiences, were all shaped in the new posters aimed at promoting Cuban films.

This new image has not only carried out an impeccable revealing labor but has also achieved a high aesthetic value; where artists have reached a special interrelation among different manifestations such as painting, photography, drawing and graphic.

In this way, the Cuban Movie Poster's particular expressive tune, has earn it an own space within the manifestations of Plastic Arts in Cuba, which found in the silk screen technique, the proper printing procedure to ease the production of the selected format in a wide chromatic variety. This technique is still used nowadays in a crafty way.
The hard-working labor mixing creativity with designers and producers` preference, enables the expressive singularity of each movie poster, which becomes itself a small artwork within the great public`s reach when joining the film advertisement. At the same time, they are attractive pieces for cultivators of this sort of plastic expression due to the singular character of the production process and its limited edition, conferring original tune to any work made in the atelier.

Cuban movie poster enjoys national and international appraisal, boasting among its most outstanding creators: Alfredo Rostgaard, Eladio Rivadulla, Eduardo Muñoz Bachs, Rafael Morante, Antonio Fernández Reboiro, René Azcuy and Antonio Pérez (Ñiko).
