While going through Raúl Corrales´ photographic images, we can not only notice the faithful register of historic events that he captured with reporter´s agility, but also an aesthetic dimension coming from sentimental links using facts as object of his testimonial action. Each of his classic photograph is a visual declaration of identification with the cultural, political and ethical matters.

The photography of this revered artist, has not the intention of substitution or emulation with the painting. It doesn´t even settle in formal, perceptive and significant researches. It all depends on his abilities taking the picture and later in the lab, selecting, printing and clipping the photograms. That´s why Corrales is a professional using his ocular intuition to select what vision should be photographed, is a sensible man who through design, static solvents, light and shades; offers his viewpoint and the simbolisms inherent to the icon features of the photograph.

Corrales has left for all times epic moments of the Cuban revolutionary process. His visions of the 70s are alive in the files and show to the world an epic vision of the popular life becoming scene of seeds and changes. His labour as photographer has been done with responsability, supporting justice and heroism. However, we can talk about a less well-known face of Corrales: his portrays and daily scenes, persons and facts that awake him desires to transform them in photographic configuration. For the Cuban photographic creations, Corrales is one of its greatest names. In his work, testimony is surpassed for the enjoyment of beauty in reality and art. It explains his master performance in the photographic world.
