I
just want, in the name of the members of various promotions and
artists generations, more than appraising, to thank your truth.
A truth that is enterely fueled by a deeply high and permanent artistic
and moral neatness, taught with humility, without grandiloquences
or indulgences; a patient maker of a risky life: that risk belonging
to hard times and the other one, the risk of inconformity and creative
rebuilding in an already enhaced existence conferring you a place
of extrainning which all of us could envy.
Life and work welded in a unique and consecuent alloy. More than
30 years ago -when I was a teenager and attended your classes at
National Art School-, I always had the idea of being before a tired
man due to your slowly way of speaking.
That was the wrong perception of a youngster having many to learn
yet, this exhausted man is the one who gave me an example of wisdom,
creative and vital energy.
I am very proud to have the chance of living the same time and
have learned from you.
You cutted the cane, you welded the iron, you bended the paper
to give it life and it seems you are conquering what is implacable.
That's why, I firmly believe you are being fairly honoured due
to that enormous work you are building for us, for that life enterely
devoted to art and to your superior goal: the beauty.
So, let me return to you in this draw, a piece of what you sow
in me.
